Some 6,800 Brazilian women of all faiths have appealed in cables to the Soviet government and the United Nations Human Rights Commission for permission for all Jews who so wish to leave the Soviet Union for Israel. The appeal, whose signers are from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, also asked the release of three Jewish women presently serving sentences in Soviet labor camps because of their expressed desire to go to Israel–Silva Zalmanson-Kuznetsov of Leningrad, Roiza Palatnik of Odessa and Ruth Aleksandrovich of Riga. A delegation of women attempted to deliver a copy of the appeal to the Soviet Embassy here but Embassy officials refused to accept it.
