Dr. David Epstein, lecturer in Pharmacology at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, died here suddenly at the age of 31.
Dr. Epstein was one of the most brilliant of the younger school of scientists in South Africa. He graduated in medicine in 1925, receiving the Gold Medal given by the University to the most distinguished student in the medical course for the year. In addition, he was awarded a scholarship and joined the Department of Pharmacology, where he proceeded to do research work in that subject, subsequently receiving his Ph.D. Dr. Epstein carried out certain of his researches at Oxford during a portion of 1932. His publications include a number of important papers on pharmacological subjects in local and foreign journals.
