England has admitted about 6,000 German refugees since last September, the House of Commons was informed today by Home Secretary Sir Samuel Hoare.
Dominion governments were urged by the Bishop of Chichester last night to act “wisely and nobly” by linking the plight of the refugees with the problem of Empire migration. Speaking at memorial exercises for the late Lucien Wolf, author and journalist, the Bishop stressed the necessity of international action on behalf of the refugees. Hertz expressed Anglo-Jewish’s appreciation of the practical sympathy for the refugees shown by the democracies.
