A British Foreign Office spokesman today denied a statement made in Bagdad by Gen, Nuri Es-said, president of the Iraqi Senate, that Britain and Iraq had “reached complete agreement on Palestine and realized the wishes of Palestine’s Arabs and all other Arab countries” as a result or a secret meeting last December.
The British spokesman agreed that discussions on the future of Palestine were held last January between British officials and the Iraqi delegation then in London to conclude the revised Anglo-Iraqi treaty of alliance which was subsequently rejected in Bagdad. A general understanding between the British and Iraqi standpoints on the future of Palestine had been attained, he said, but no sort of formal agreement was concluded.
