Arrangements have been completed to enable all Jewish servicemen, British and Allied, to celebrate the forthcoming Passover festival in accordance with Jewish custom, it was announced here today. The Ministry of Food has granted special permits to enable Passover food to be supplied to all Jewish personnel stationed in this country. Particular arrangements have been made for Jewish personnel at Gibralter, Malta and in North Africa.
The Federation of Czechoslovakian Jews in cooperation with the Czech War Office will care for their fellow countrymen while Polish-Jewish funds will be concerned with Polish-Jewish soldiers. The Chief Rabbi’s Religious Emergency Council is concerned with the general administration of this effort.
The formation of a committee to deal with the religious aspects of the post-war reconstruction of European Jewry was announced here today by the Chief Rabbi’s Religious Emergency Council. The Council is now spending over $80,000 a year for the religious needs of the community in all its aspects. Ten thousand dollars is spent on the welfare of Jewish soldiers alone.
