Minister of Health Malcolm MacDonald today issued an order withdrawing most of the restrictions on employment of German and Austrian refugees in English and Welsh hospitals.

Under the new regulation, they may be employed as doctors, students and nurses in all hospitals of the Emergency Hospital Scheme, except in protected areas. They are barred, however, from military wards.
