A Government spokesman today refused to relax Palestine immigration regulations in behalf of refugees marooned on the Danube in Rumania.

Colonial Undersecretary Lord Dufferin and Ava, replying in writing to a question by Lord Davies regarding the situation of the 2,000 refugees on the Danube declared the situation was the result of an attempt to escape the consequences of a “well-known deliberate policy of the German Government.”

He refused, however, relaxation of Palestine restrictions. “Palestine,” he said, “is already making a considerable contribution, under the terms of the recent White Paper, toward a solution of the Jewish refugee problem by means of quotas for legal immigrants.”
