The Star reported today that the Mandates Commission, which last week completed its hearings on the new British Palestine policy, has notified the League Council that it was beyond the commission’s competence to deal with the policy. The newspaper said that the decision was prompted by the attitude of Great Britain and France. “Representatives of the smaller states,” it asserted, “wanted to maintain that the White Paper was a violation of the mandate, but the great powers, though in the minority, won the day.”
