Britain is Invited to Appear at the Deliberations As Mandatory Power

Sen. Warren R. Austin, head of the American legation at the United Nations, today extended an invitation to Britain on behalf the Big Powers, to attend tomorrow’s meeting on Palestine.

The invitation was extended following today’s first meeting on Palestine of representatives of the United States, USSR, France and China who met in accordance with the decision of the U.N. Security Council last week. The British delegation is expected to accept the invitation.

Sen. Austin made it clear that the British Government was invited tot as a ##ber of the Big Five but as the Mandatory Power. He refused to comment on the ##ssibility of whether Britain would be asked to take a permanent seat in the future liberations.
