Great Britain has exchanged oral assurances with Italy that each will respect the other’s interests in Palestine, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain disclosed in the House of Commons for the first time today during a debate on recently signed Anglo-Italian agreement.
Mr. Chamberlain said Italy pledged that “the Italian government will abstain from creating difficulties or embarrassments for the British government in the administration of Palestine.” His statement was cheered.
