With international control of the Suez Canal slated to end in 1968, when it will revert to Egypt, the British Government is planning to dig a similar canal through Palestine, it was reported today in the London Daily Sketch.
The report said that the contemplated canal would link the port of Akka, in Palestine, with the Gulf of Akaba in the Red Sea. It would pass through the Dead Sea in Palestine and would be 200 miles long, The Suez Canal is only 100 miles long.
