British officials announced today that they are pressing the Egyptian Government to make formal charges against five British Jews detained in Cairo or else release them.
No information is available here on a report from Paris stating that a joint Anglo-French diplomatic protest to the Egyptian Government is planned against the arrests of foreigners and anti-Jewish agitation in that country. A Foreign Office spokesman indicated, however, that such a demarche might have been planned in Cairo between the local French and British representatives.
