A Foreign Ministry official told a deputation of British Jews today that the British Broadcasting Corp. had suspended its half hour Hebrew short-wave program in order to make the funds available for other forms of cultural links between Britain and Israel. Maurice Foley, Parliamentary Undersecretary at the Foreign Office, said he regretted it was not possible to reconsider the suspension or even to postpone it. Mr. Foley was visited today by a delegation representing the Board of Deputies of British Jews who expressed the concern felt by Jewish communities here and abroad over the decision to shut down the BBC’s Hebrew service.
