The British Government has sent a note to the Egyptian Government protesting the political activities of the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem who is now in this city, it was learned here during the week-end. Although Egypt pledged that the ex-Mufti would not be permitted to engage in political affairs, his influence has been great since his arrival last summer.

Earlier, in a statement to the press, the former Mufti urged the Arab League to “pass from words to action” and affirmed Arab determination not to yield “one inch” of Palestine soil to Jewish immigration. If Great Britain is powerless to halt illegal immigration, he said, the Palestinian Arabs, in collaboration with Arabs from other states, will take matters into their own hands, he declared.

Meanwhile, Arab press reports state that the Syrian government has named Fawzi Bey Kawkaji, notorious Arab terrorist leader, as military attache of the Arab League in a move that is interpreted as the first step towards the establishment of a joint military headquarters for the Arab states.
