The possibility of a United States revision of its oil arrangements with the Arab countries was predicted today by the British-controlled Near East Arabic Radio in a broadcast addressed to the Arab states.
The broadcast said that Israel is planning to lay a pipeline from the Red Sea to Haifa in order to nullify Egypt’s and Iraq’s cutting off of supplies for the Haifa refineries. The construction of such a pipeline, the broadcast warned, would spell bankruptcy for Iraq and grave financial losses for Egypt. “The Arabs had better do a little thinking before it is too late,” the broadcast urged.
Earlier, representatives of employees in the Haifa oil refineries were told by the plant’s management today that operations will cease shortly and that the majority of the 400 workers will be discharged.
