The Colonial Office said today that although it could not confirm reports that the Palestine police is to be purged, it is expected here that as a result of the Farran incident the Palestine Government will return to the Army all officers borrowed for special duty with the police.
A Colonial Office spokesman said that the results of the current inquiry into the Farran affair are not known, but so far no evidence implicating regular police officers has been uncovered, although a thorough investigation has just been made into the background of all policemen. None were found to have any connection with fascist or anti-Semitic groups, the spokesman stated. Nothing is known here of a reported anti-terrorist column among the police, he added.
