Henry Morgenthau Jr., general chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, was today awarded the first Stephen S. Wise Memorial Plaque by the Independent Order Brith Abraham for distinguished service in behalf of the resous and rehabilitation of displaced Jews.
The presentation was announced at the convention now in session here of the Order. Governor Thomas Dewey of New York, in a message to the convention, said he was “deeply happy” over the success of the state’s new legislation combatting employment discrimination.
