The question of Jewish unity in America will be discussed at the forty-eighth annual convention of the Independent Order Brith Abraham opening here Sunday in the presence of 1,200 delegates.
The convention will continue for three days and will be presided over by Max Silverstein, Grand Master of the order. One of the recommendations which Mr. Silverstein will make in his Grand Master’s message will be that “the Order should endeavor to make peace between the American Jewish Congress and the American Jewish Committee and other national Jewish organizations.”
The administration of the society, one of the largest in the world, will report a substantial decrease in membership. It is estimated that the order has lost more than 23,000 members due to internal dissension and to the present economic depression. The total membership is estimated at about 70,000, while at one time it had 214,000 on its rolls.
