The 41st annual convention of Brith Sholom, fraternal organization, adopted resolutions calling for passage of the Stratton Bill to admit 400,000 displaced persons during the next four years and the Ives Bill to establish a permanent Fair Employment Practices Commission.
The delegates urged the President, Secretary of State, the U.S. delegation to the United Nations and both Houses of Congress to support the “traditional policy” of the United States, favoring establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine, to insist that pending a solution of the Palestine problem unrestricted Jewish immigration be permitted, and to condemn the “cruel and lawless” British administration in that country. The parley also pledged support of the United Jewish Appeal and the activities of the Jewish National Fund.
