A unanimous decision of the resolutions committee urging support of an American economic and cultural boycott against Germany was considered certain to be adopted by the delegates to the Brith Sholom convention here late today. Samuel L. Einhorn, of Philadelphia, is chairman of the committee.
The resolutions committee also approved the recommendations of Grand Master A. Sigmund Kanengieser, of Newark, that the organization pay dividends, beginning August 1.
Another recommendation approved by the committee was to call all Jewish fraternities and national bodies to form a permanent federation with headquarters in Washington. This federation would serve the purpose of a clearing house for all legislation affecting Jewish welfare.
Sentiment here was described as crystalizing regarding the creation of a home for aged members.
ELECTIONS TOMORROW
The nominations, resolutions and message committees were to report late today. Elections will be held tomorrow. Judge William M. Lewis, of Philadelphia, past grand master, is expected to run for the post again. Kanengieser is finishing his second term under the two-year rule.
Yesterday delegates to the convention heard Dorothy Thompson, wife of Sinclair Lewis and recently special correspondent for the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in Germany, tell them that the Nazi’s anti-Semitic program is doomed to ultimate failure. The famous newspaperwoman summarized in an address her observations made in Germany during February and March.
“The Nazi’s anti-Jewish campaign cannot succeed,” she stated. “The native Jews will not be forced to leave Germany and eventually will be reabsorbed in that country’s economic life.
“But the whole world is worried and frightened over Hitlerism, because if you set aflame the race question you cannot tell where it will end. America above all cannot afford to open the race question.”
Miss Thompson said that in spite of the seeming uniformity of thought and action in Germany under Hitler there are in reality thousands of persons who do not approve of the Nazis.

Another speaker yesterday was Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver, of Cleveland. Germany today, stated Rabbi Silver, was the battleground of a conflict between the capitalistic and socialistic systems, in which the Jews were enmeshed against their will.
