Seven hundred Jews who were preparing to leave here for Palestine have been left homeless and destitute by the sudden withdrawal by British authorities of 700 of 1,000 Palestine immigration certificates allocated to the Jews of Bulgaria.
The 700, consisting of men, women and children, had sold their belongings and given up their jobs in anticipation of emigrating. New they face winter, jobless, fundless, ragged and without houshold goods or homes.
They issued an appeal today for intervention by the Jewish Agency with British authorities in Palestine and with the British representatives here.
