It is the responsibility and duty of the British Government to act against the proposed Arab boycott of Jewish goods manufactured in Palestine, it was stated here today at a meeting of representatives of the Jewish Agency, the Anglo-Palestine Bank, the Jewish Industrialists Association, the Jewish Chambers of Commerce and the Histadruth. The meeting declared that it is surprising that the Palestine Government and the British Government remain “neutral” in face of the Arab League action.
In Amman, capital of Transjordan, a committee has been established to supervise the boycott, which is slated to begin the first of the year. Many Transjordan merchants are preparing to go to Syria, Lebanon and Egypt to arrange for imports which they have been getting from Palestine. Meanwhile, a number of Amman agents of Jewish firms have wired to Palestine severing their relations as of January 1.
In Cairo, a meeting of Egyptian undersecretaries for industry and commerce, foreign affairs, and finance and supply was held today to discuss the boycott.
