British authorities in the Gilgil detention camp in Kenya yesterday cancelled all arrangements for the repatriation of the more than 200 Jews detained there; the Assire Zion committee here was notified today in a message from the detainees.
The cable said that this action vas taken as part of Britain’s determination to keep all immigrants who are potential soldiers out of Palestine during thefour-week truce. The internees pointed out that they are not prospective immigrants, but Palestine exiles.
The Assire Zion committee asked the International Red Cross to intervene with the British Government on behalf of the detainees. The organization also cabled protests against the British action to U.N. Secretary-General Trygve Lie and U.N. mediator Count Folke Bernadotte.
