Acting Chief Rabbi of the British Empire Harris M. Lazarus, in a Rosh Hashanah message released here today, declared that “like Job, Israel today is challenged and smitten and has withstood many tests.

“Our faith, our services to religion, culture and civilization, our reclaiming the wastes and swamps in a derelict Palestine–all those entitle us to recognition as a nation in the community of nations and to seeing our dream of the promised restoration of Palestine as a Jewish homeland fulfilled.”
