Malcolm MacDonald, former British Secretary of State for the Dominions, and until recently High Commissioner in Canada, has thanked the Jewish community for the “very generous help which you gave to our people during the war,” in a letter addressed to Saul Hayes, national executive director of the Canadian Jewish Congress, made public here today.
“Among the people of the United Kingdom,” wrote Mr. MacDonald, “there are countless men, women and children who remember with profound gratitude the kindness of friends in Canada during the difficult years of the war. That manifestation of your friendship with us, of your faith in our common cause, was a constant source of courage and inspiration to us both at home and abroad.”
