A Foreign Office spokesman today confirmed to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the Arab League has asked the British Government to allow the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem to return to Palestine without any restrictions. The spokesman added that he had no comment to make at present regarding the League’s demand.

The Foreign Office also revealed that the Arab League requested that the British Government invite the Palestine Arab Higher Committee as such to the London parley on Palestine, instead of inviting individual members of the Committee as it did previously. The Government has not yet taken any decision on this request.

Preparations for the resumption of the London parley Jan. 21 were continuing today, although no arrangements have yet been made by the government for further talks with members of the world Zionist executive who are now in London, including Moshe Shertok, head of the executive’s political department.

Informed quarters have expressed doubt that the London conference will serve any useful purpose under the present circumstances. However, it was officially confirmed today that the Arab states have expressed their readiness to attend the conference when it reopens.
