Jewish circles in Britain today expressed concern over a Foreign Office announcement that the extradition of war criminals to Poland will be halted after September 1, except in cases where there is “prima face evidence of murder.”
They also expressed the fear that the British Government’s refusal to extradite Dr. Wladislaw Dering to Poland to stand trial on murder charges is an indication that Britain is determined to end extraditions altogether. Dering is charged by both the Polish and Czechoslovak Governments with having performed medical experiments on human guinea pigs in the Oswiecim death camp. Many inmates, most of them Jews, died as a result of the “experiments.”
