The British Government will take action against newspapers spreading Nazism and anti-Semitism in Germany, Foreign Undersecretary Christopher Mayhem pledged in Commons last night.

He told questioners that the government is aware of the fact that there are still individuals and groups in Germany which hold Nazi views. Although he pointed out that the British occupying forces have the power to take action against the Nazis and to protect “democratic government in Germany,” he said that the initiative should come from the Germans. However, he added, the British Government “will not hesitate to take appropriate action when necessary.”

Two Mosleyites fined for “obstructing” traffic during an anti-Semitic demonstration in London’s Piccadilly Cirous last month yesterday gave notice in court of their intention to appeal the sentences. Sir Oswald Mosley was one of the spectators in the court.
