Three Labor Party members of Parliament, Mrs. Irene White, George Thompson and Barnett Janner, have asked the British Government to provide Israel with more British books, films and other cultural supplies.

Addressing an inquiry to the Government on this subject, Mrs. White pointed out that Britain sends to Israel annually, books valued at only 25, 000 pounds sterling, while the United States book export to Israel amounts to 500, 000 pounds sterling a year.

Mr. Thompson told the members of the House of Commons that, when he visited Israel, he found it difficult to obtain any British books at all in Israeli book shops. Mr. Janner told the House he had received numerous questions from Israelis who want to know “why they can get cheaply-priced Russian and American books, but not British books.”
