British Govt. Committee Considering Bill Making Anti-semitic Propaganda Libelous

A Parliamentary committee is considering legislation sponsored by the Board of Deputies of British Jews to make anti-Semitic propaganda punishable under the libel laws, Sidney Salamon, press officer of the Board, today told a national conference of Jewish of Jewish youth delegates discussing the problem of combatting anti-Semitism.

Gordon Liverman, chairman of the Board’s defense committee, reported that fascist elements in England were “gradually creeping out of their holes.” He warned that the book clubs set up by Sir Oswald Mosley must be carefully watched.

It was learned today that the British People’s Party, which includes many former members of Mosley’s British Union of Fascists, intends to put up candidates in the forthcoming municipal elections.
