The Trades Union Council today told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that it has not been approached by the Ministry of Labor for a discussion of the projected admission to England of 80,000 displaced Jews. The T.U.C. stressed that before the reported plan to admit 500,000 DP’s as workers in Britain’s undermanned industries could be put into effect, its approval must be ceoured.
The Jewish Committee for Relief Abroad stated that it expects such approval to be given, but that the details of the plan are not yet set. The committee pointed out that the government has not stated how many displaced Jews it wishes to admit, nor has it been ascertained how many DP’s want to come to England.
