Arab states through blackmail and other approaches have convinced a number of British firms to cease doing business with Israel, R.N. Carvalho, president of the Anglo-Jewish Association, charged last night at a meeting of the organization. He urged the British Government to give “strong and reassuring advice” to British companies approached by Arab representatives seeking to extend the blockade of Israel.
Commenting on moves here in the direction of sending a delegation of leading Jews to the Soviet Union to make contact with Russian Jewry; Mr. Carvalho declared that if such visits should take place, “we should like to see an Anglo-Jewish delegation led by the Chief Rabbi.” The AJA president also touched upon the Moroccan situation and said that there appeared to be a good understanding by the Government of Morocco of its obligations towards the large number of Jews in the country.
