A “practical project” for British university graduates and students to spend at least a year in Israel was announced here today by Gordon Hausmann, chairman of the Inter-university Jewish Federation of Great Britain and Ireland. Under the plan, he said, the students will spend at least a year at the Institute for Hebrew and Jewish Studies at Arad, one of the new developing towns in Israel’s Negev area. The project, Mr. Hausmann said, had been worked out in cooperation between the World Union of Jewish Students and the Jewish Agency. He added that the federation will also intensify its present scheme under which students might spend some time in Israel at work in their chosen professions.
