The British High Commissioner for Germany has written to the Premiers of all the Gorman states in the British zone and to the Mayor of Hamburg informing them of the British Government’s determination to see the process of restoring identifiable property stolen by the Nazis completed, it was learned here today.
Two officials of the United Restitution Office of London have just returned from a tour of Germany during which they discussed the implementation of regulations governing restitution and indemnification in various German states.
During their tour the leaders, F. Foldschmitt and K. Friedlander, secretary and legal advisor, respectively, of the United Restitution Office, spoke with restitution officials in Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart and Weisbaden. Among other matters they suggested to the Germans was the enactment of a comprehensive law dealing with the prewar obligations of the German Republic.
