A resolution demanding the rescinding of land purchase restrictions in Palestine in accordance with the recommendations of the Anglo-American Inquiry Committee on Palestine was adopted here today at the annual conference of the British Jewish National Fund.
Another resolution proclaimed the necessity for the J.N.F. remaining autonomous and pledged to raise the sum of $1,400,000 for the coming year. (It was announced here yesterday that the British United Palestine Appeal, representing five Jewish bodies, had been dissolved on the suggestion of Simon Marks, London Zionist leader, who proposed that the J.N.F. and the Palestine Foundation Fund launch a joint Palestine Appeal campaign in 1947.)
Aaron Wright, J.N.F. president, addressing the conference, condemned terrorism in Palestine, insisting that the extremists are “besmirching the name of the Jews” and doing incalculable harm to their aspirations. He stated that he hoped when the London conference on Palestine resumes, conditions will be such that the Jewish Agency will be able to participate, trusting that the conference will do justice to the Jews. He also paid tribute to Jewish settlement in the Negev, hailing it as the greatest achievement in the modern history of Palestine.
