A resolution urging the British Government to make certain that the contemplated new occupation statute for Germany contains adequate international guarantees for the maintenance of the fundamental freedoms and equality before the law in Germany was adopted here today at a plenary session of the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
The resolution pointed out that the daily anti-Semitic and Nazi manifestations in Germany constitute a source of concern to Jews and the democracies. Another resolution on Germany deplored the rearmament of Western and Eastern Germany and called it a betrayal of the millions of Jews and non-Jews who died in the Nazi holocaust.
The Board also adopted a report on Israel which declared that the “exaggerated and one-sided accounts of the present economic regime in Israel are responsible in some measure for the lack of adequate support for the building of the Jewish state from the Jewish community of England.” The report urged full cooperation in fund-raising campaigns for Israel and in encouraging private investment in the Jewish state.
