A resolution welcoming the stand of the Parliamentary Labor Party against an arms race in the Middle East and calling for co-existence between Israel and the Arab states was adopted here today at the Labor Party conference at Margate. The resolution also lauded what it termed the constructive achievements of the Mapai party in Israel.
Sam Watson, leader of the miners’ union, addressing the conference, said that the main issue in the world today was the situation in the Middle East. He described Israel as a beacon light in that area and said that he hoped the conference would show that, as believers in the labor movement, the British labor movement would let the people of Israel know that it supported them.
