The delegation of British Jewish leaders sailing for the United States January 15 on the Majestic is going on “a purely exploratory mission,” it was explained today by Sir Herbert Samuel, Lord Bearsted and Simon Marks, the members of the delegation, in their first authorized statement.

“The object of the mission to the United States is purely exploratory,” the statement said. “The delegation will seek to take counsel with all sections of those interested in America with the view to preparation of a schemes to promote emigration of Jews from Germany and to assist the emigrants to start new enterprises and find occupations in their new homes.”

The statement continued:

“It is intended to formulate a definite scheme after consultation with various Jewish bodies not only in America but also in Palestine and elsewhere.

“Any scheme for these objects will clearly require the raising of large sums,” the statement declared.
