A British M.P. has announced his decision to put aside one sixth of his salary for the next five years to contribute to Jewish relief funds. Addressing a meeting at Sheffield in support of the Council for German Jewry’s campaign for Austrian Jewry, Commander Oliver Locker-Lampson said that of his £600 per year salary as an M.P., he was putting aside £100 each year for Jewish funds.
“The call of Jewry is paramount,” he declared. “Helpless, homeless, miserable, the tragic wanderers look to us for help and sanctuary; and the same God, yours and the one I worship, will not forget those who are good to the stranger at the gate.
“The day will come,” he prophesied, “when the bully of Berlin will be beaten and when none of us will be slaves of the Swastika any longer.”
