Charles Wolfson, brother of Sir Isaac Wolfson, prominent British philanthropist, today pledged a gift of 250, 000 pounds sterling ($700, 000), to cover the initial cost of the establishment of a boarding school for Jewish girls in Oxfordshire, the first of its kind in Britain.

The site of the new school is close to Carmel College, the boarding school for Jewish boys, which owns the site. Sponsors of the new project said there was a great demand for a boarding school for Jewish girls.
