Streamer headlines across the front pages of virtually every Sunday newspaper today announce Scotland Yard’s decision to take special measures to protect members of the Cabinet and important government buildings against the “threat of Palestine terrorists.”
The stories quote police authorities as announcing that they have been informed by British intelligence officers in Palestine that 12 terrorists are en route to England. They say that a close watch has been placed on all ports in the hope of apprehending the terrorists, who are expected to arrive in groups of two or three.
A special meeting to discuss the situation was held yesterday in Scotland Yard with the top officials of all police and security organizations attending.
