George Henry Hall, formerly parliamentary Under-Secretary for Colonies, who is known to be pro-Zionist, was today appointed by Prime Minister Attlee to the post of Colonial Secretary.
Hall voted against the Government in the debates on the White Paper in May and July, 1939, as well as against the ordinance restricting Jewish land purchase in Palestine, He was also one of the participants in the Bermuda Conference on refugees held in 1943, where he represented the British Government as Under-Secretary of the Admiralty.
Emmanuel Shinwell, Jewish labor member of Parliament since 1922, was appointed Minister of Fuel and Power. He served as financial secretary of the War Office from June 1929 to June 1930.
