British Prime Minister Tony Blair “showed a lot of understanding for Israel’s situation” when he met Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, a spokesman for the Israeli Embassy in London said. Blair said he admired Sharon’s restraint in the wake of the deadly June 1 Tel Aviv disco bombing and emphasized that he was a friend of Israel, the spokesman said.
