A British army officer whose life was saved by a German Jewish soldier on a French battlefield during the World War has responded by rescuing the Jew and his daughter from Germany. David R. Stravan, former sergeant of the Scots Guards, read in the British press an appeal from Isaac Lowenstein, 53, addressed to the unknown British soldier whom Lowenstein saved. Stravan replied by arranging for temporary residence in Britain for Lowenstein and his 17-year-old daughter pending the granting of visas for immigration to the United States.
