After May 1 British tourists visiting Israel will be permitted to take foreign currency with them to pay their expenses in the Jewish state, it was announced in Commons today by Minister for Economic Affairs H.T.N. Gaitskel. Each adult will be allowed the equivalent of $140, while each child will be allowed to spend about $100 in foreign currency.
Dr. Mordecal Eliash, Israel Minister to Britain, was introduced to French President Vincent Auriol last night at a reception for the diplomatic corps held in connection with the French President’s visit of state here. M. Auriol exchanged a few words with Dr. Eliash, recalling President Chaim Weizmann’s visit with him in Paris last year.
