Phineas Horowitz, vice-president of the British Zionist Federation and chairman of the Anglo-Palestine Club, arrived in New York today en route to South America. The steamer on which Horowitz sailed from England to Halifax was torpedoed by a Nazi submarine. Horowitz, after swimming for over twenty minutes in a stormy sea, was picked up by a lifeboat and was transferred to a liner which reached Halifax under a convoy.
Meanwhile, Laib Jaffe, director of the Palestine Foundation Fund, arrived here by Clipper after a stay in England.
