A sensation was created here today when Professor Nicholson, British representative at the Kalevala celebrations, launched an eloquent attack against the German racial theory.
Professor Nicholson, who spoke after the German representative, took occasion to point out that the cultural world does not recognize the “Aryan” teachings of Germany and considers them uncutural and uncivilized.
Dr. Saul Tchernichowsky, the famous Hebrew poet and translator of the Kalevala into Hebrew, who has been invited from Palestine as the guest of the Finnish government, speaking at today’s celebration, described literature as a meeting place for all people.
