A national council of Zionist Youth, formed at a meeting of representatives of national Zionist youth organizations at the Jewish Theological Seminary, was announced yesterday by Dr. Ben M. Edidin, chairman of the newly organized council. The following national organizations have joined the council: Avukah, Mizrachi Youth, Hashomer Hatzair, Hechalutz, Junior Hadassah, Masada, Young Judea.
“As its first concrete task,” Dr. Edidin said: “The council undertook to make a survey and prepare a registry of all the Zionist youth bodies in this country, and to compile a catalogue of all the programs and educational materials issued by these organizations.” A special committee was appointed to prepare a plan of joint action for Zionist youth groups in local communities.
The national council was formed at the initiative of the Zionist Commission on Youth and Education, of which Israel Chipkin is chairman and Dr. Alexander M. Dushkin head of the youth committee, Dr. Edidin explained.
