The inauguration of Bulgarian-Israeli tourist traffic through facilities of El Al Israel Airlines was celebrated here tonight at a banquet arranged by Bulgarian authorities for a delegation of 100 guests brought on El Al’s first flight to Bulgaria.
Israel Ambassador Zvi Avron, and Bulgarian Government representatives, spoke at the banquet, hailing the new link in Bulgarian-Israeli relations. The envoy and the Government representatives emphasized the exceptional friendship of the Bulgarian people for Jews. They noted that Bulgaria and Denmark were the only two countries in Europe where Jews did not suffer during the Nazi holocaust because local residents openly fought Nazi deportation efforts.
