The Bulgarian Cabinet’s new anti-Jewish bill has been received with cool indifference by the population, The Times reported today from Sofia. The Jewish problem is practically non-existent in Bulgaria, the dispatch said. The Jews number only about 50,000 , or 0.6 percent of the population.
There are at present no Jews in the army, civil service or in the villages. The law is believed to have been introduced as a result of German pressure and an unpopular reception is foreseen for it by well-informed Bulgarians when the bill is submitted to Parliament at the end of October.
